When Lasana and I first started dating, we keep had weekly lunch dates every Wednesday in the city. He would meet me downtown and we'd go to a nearby restaurant for good food and conversation. I loved picking the place for lunch each week (since he was very occupied with planning most all of our other dates.) It was like my treat for him and it gave us both something to look forward to.
We've dined everywhere from trendy new establishments to quaint little cafes to historic hotel restaurants to the top of the John Hancock building. Not to mention some of the best thai, italian, and sandwich shops that we've discovered and thoroughly enjoyed together. (Seriously, we have pretty good recommendations for Thai and Italian, some of which are rather hidden gems.)
Wednesday became my absolute favorite day of the week then and still has a special memory attached to it.
I don't know what combination of the excitement of seeing each other and stealing an hour from the day to dine makes Wednesday lunches so special. I'm convinced though that the ritual of keeping this appointment whenever possible is the key to its romantic feel. And whether you're in a new trendy place in the city or a occupying a corner in the neighborhood bookstore cafe, lunch is just better shared with someone you love.
